1. Haiti Bookmark & Prayer outreach (Feb. 13 @ 1pm meeting at Davis): This project is being led by a VLI student. Participants will be handing out bookmarks to selected neighborhoods that provide information on how to continue supporting the international efforts in Haiti (donating blood, shoes, money, etc…). It is also intended to create an opportunity to pray for people in need as conversations arise. Please contact Jacob Helmlinger at jhelmlinger07@gmail.com for more details and to be a part of the team.
2. Worthington Row apartment complex outreach (Feb. 28): This project is being led by two VLI students. Participants will be blessing residents in the complex with a small gift. This particular complex is about a mile from the campus and has some huge physical needs. Our hope is to start building relationships with residents as we consider “adopting” the complex as one of the places the Sawmill Campus community attempts to help make life a little easier for those less fortunate. We are considering hosting a vacation bible school program there this summer. Contact Corey Garris for contact information for the students
3. Sawbury Commons apartment complex outreach (March 6): This project is being led by a VLI student. Participants will be blessing residents in the complex with a small gift (probably “bread & jam”). This complex is about 4 blocks from the campus and has some huge physical needs. See #2 for the same details. Contact Todd McAllister at mcallister1970@embarqmail.com for more details and to be part of the team.
4. Easter Egg Hunt (tentatively: April 3): This event is intended to bless the families in our own congregation as well as build a bridge to families that live in the area surrounding Davis middle school. Families from the neighborhood are more likely to attend Sawmill Campus on Easter if they have met some people from our community and feel comfortable. We would like to have a team of people lead this project. Contact Corey Garris for team leader information (the team is being formed right now).
5. Tax Day Stamp Give Away (April 15): This is a “fun” outreach that is very simple and blesses people during what is otherwise a stressful day for many. We would like to build a couple small teams that will stand in front of several post offices and offer free stamps to people who are mailing in their tax returns. The free stamp will come with a small business card that lets people know it is a free gift, just like God’s love, and providing them with our church info if they are interested. Contact Corey Garris to get on a team or to offer to lead a team

Hey…not sure how this all works, but here goes…I’ve been hoping for Sawmill Campus to do a Vacation Bible Study. I volunteered for one at Vineyard (Main Campus) (the last one that they did) in spring of 2005. Jared wasn’t old enough to attend, but they provided childcare for volunteer’s children. Since then, Jared has attended VBS at Linworth UMC (the past 3 years), Newstart Church, once at Worthington Christian, and for the first time last year at Northwest Church of the Nazarene. I don’t know anything about putting one on, but I’m willing to help. I do know the people at Linworth UMC pretty well (& some of the people at Newstart) and they’d be a good contact if you want more input. Let me know. Jeni
Jeni,
We will be putting on a couple vacation bible schools this summer, but their primary focus won’t be directed at the children at sawmill. We hope to put them on in a couple of lower-income apartment complexes close to Davis. I’d love to have your help, and certainly Jared could participate. I think it is going to be really sweet & i’m very open to ideas you might have. Brian Patt is leading this effort for us. I’ll put you in touch with him.

Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti is supported by International Child Care (since 1967) and there is an appeal posted online at
> https://us.internationalchildcare.org/node/326
After the earthquake on January 12, 2010 all the inpatients were moved to tents in the courtyard of Grace Children’s Hospital. Several children were never reclaimed by caregivers or parents after treatment for TB or other illnesses. The hospital must be imploded to complete the demolition and reconstructed. Teams are being trained for the recovery which could take years and millions of dollars.
Mission Encounter teams and advance leadership teams are still assessing the damages. For more information about ICC call 800-722-4453 or visit https://us.internationalchildcare.org/earthquake
To whom it may concern,
My name is William Melendez and I am a Vineyard Columbus Member as well as my wife Yuri. God gave me and my family an opportunity to relocated to Japan and work for the Department of the Navy. It has been great, however, we miss the Vineyard Columbus Church so much. We started to go to a local small church for a little while, but we stopped going. My wife and I watch and listen to Vineyard online. We try to give our children a little Bible lesson at home.
Do you think that in the near future, the Vineyard could possibly expand the satellite program like the one you have in Sawmill to overseas ? Perhaps using the program like Skype for people all over the world.
We really miss Vineyard and feel that the world needs more of Vineyard’s outreach.
God Bless
William & Yuri Melendez
